Dr. Burgos enjoys working with all age groups and specializes in managing patients with special needs and dentofacial abnormalities such as cleft lip and palate. Dr. Burgos works hand-in-hand with Dr. Hoff helping their patients receive the smile of their dreams.
Dr. Karissa Burgos is no stranger to Southern California, having grown up in the Inland Empire. Her childhood orthodontist was Dr. Steve Tracey in Upland. That experience inspired her to pursue a career in orthodontics at an early age (Fun fact: Dr. Tracey was Dr. Hoff’s best friend and his practice is now providing the same incredible level of service with Dr. Hoff’s son, Dr. Jeremy Hoff.
She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Health at Azusa Pacific University where she established the school’s first pre-dental society. Dr. Burgos left sunny So Cal to attend University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she received her DDS degree. During dental school, she spent time giving back to the community on several local and global mission trips earning her the school’s highest honor at graduation: The Vivere ex Missione Award. She went on to complete her residency training in orthodontics at University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and earned a Master’s Degree in Craniofacial Biology and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Throughout her academic career, she has devoted time to research and publications in the dental field on topics related to safe sedation techniques as well as cavity prevention during orthodontic treatment. Although she thoroughly enjoyed her time away, she is happy to be back home in Southern California practicing orthodontics with some of the best in the field.
When Dr. Burgos is not in the office, she enjoys golf, hiking, snowboarding, and all things outdoors. She can also be found on the water with her family or in the kitchen recreating recipes from the latest baking show.
